The Nigeria Police Force, Sokoto State Command has instructed any person(s) or group(s) planning on sharing foodstuffs or money to indigent residents to obtain permission from the command.

The spokesman for the command, ASP Ahmed Rufai, made this known to Arewa PUNCH on Wednesday.

While speaking with our correspondent, Rufai said that the command can not stop the act of giving to the needy and vulnerable members of the society but the instruction aims at ensuring the provision of security.

The PPRO clarified, “We can not stop people from rendering such assistance, but the only thing we need to do is to call on whoever is planning such events in the state to pre-inform us.

“If they told us, we will definitely ensure the provision of security to avoid any unforeseen problems.

“The police will be there to provide maximum security to cover such programs without any rancour.”

Also speaking, the Special Adviser on Security Matters to the state governor, Col Ahmed Usman (retd) called on whoever has such intentions to ensure the state government is carried along.

He said this will help in making sure adequate security measures are put in place to guide such programs.
