Some High Prices Of Goods Are Manipulated – FCCPC

The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), Tunji Bello, has said some of the high prices of goods and services experienced across the country were caused by price manipulators.

Mr Tunji Bello said Nigerians must feel the oversight function of FCCPC. Bello said this on Tuesday while having his inaugural meeting with staff of the commission in Abuja.

Bello said staff of the commission must work to ensure that price manipulators responsible for the increase in the price of goods and services are made to face the law.

He said the current high inflation affecting citizens requires the assistance of the commission’s staff to monitor manipulative marketers.

FCCPC CEO, Bello said, “I have been well received and I am confident that I am in the midst of people who can accomplish more.

“We need to expand to the minds of Nigerians, they need to feel us. How can we be of assistance to the ordinary consumer? You need to assist the Commission to feel the pulse of the people.

“There is high inflation. Prices are high, some unavoidable while others are teleguided.”

He added that FCCPC has much surveillance work to do to assist Nigerians in the tough time of economic hardship. “We need to do more market surveillance to assist our work,” he said.
