As part of efforts towards charting a new course for human capital development, the Gombe State government through its Human Capital Development Office on Friday hosted stakeholders to validate the state’s human capital development landscape.

Declaring the meeting open, the focal person of the office and special adviser to the state governor on development partners coordination, Dr Ishiyaku Babayo, explained that the meeting was aimed at giving opportunity to stakeholders to validate the human capital development roadmap of the state

According to him, the initiative was a vital step towards building a prosperous future for the state, where human development of its people is prioritised as the cornerstone of sustainable growth.

“The programme focuses on three thematic areas: addressing health and nutrition, education, and the labour force.

The document, developed by a technical group in collaboration with permanent secretaries of ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs), traditional leaders, and civil society organisations, will serve as a guide for MDAs to achieve the state government’s development policies.

“It clearly outlines the needs of all sectors and provides a roadmap for achieving them.”, he noted.

Also speaking, the director administration and finance of the state ministry of finance and economic development, Musa Mohammed Babaji, noted that the document aligns with Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s development plan adding that it would guide development partners in providing targeted interventions to the state’s economic sectors, ultimately enhancing school enrolment, healthcare delivery services, and nutrition.

In his submission, Jika Wunako, representing civil society organisations, emphasised that the human development strategies and policies developed would enhance education, health, and economic empowerment in the state.
