Nigerians have been urged to refrain from panic buying of the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), better known as fuel or petrol.
Naija News reports that the Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria (MEMAN) issued this advice in a statement released on Thursday, assuring the public that an adequate supply is available.
The statement issued in Lagos by the association’s Chief Executive Officer, Clement Isong, addressed concerns regarding perceived shortages in the petroleum supply market.
“MEMAN assures the public and all stakeholders that we have significant stocks of products in our tanks and access to supplies from our partners, including Dangote Refinery and NNPC Trading Limited.
“We also have a clear outlook on future supplies of all petroleum products,” Isong stated.
He emphasized that the diversification of supply sources and the deregulation of markets have allowed proactive marketers to anticipate and fulfill their supply requirements ahead of time, thereby reducing the likelihood of shortages.
He stated that MEMAN does not anticipate any interruptions in the supply of petroleum products in the foreseeable future.
Isong stressed the necessity of refraining from panic buying, pointing out that supply efficiency is on the rise and that logistics operations are being refined.
He confirmed that MEMAN members are dedicated to enhancing their supply chains to guarantee optimal levels of availability, accessibility, and affordability for consumers in a progressively competitive landscape.
