Super Eagles Coaching Job: Fidelis Ilechukwu, Daniel Ogunmodede To Assist Augustine Eguavoen

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed Rangers head coach Fidelis Ilechukwu and Remo Stars head coach Daniel Ogunmodede as the assistant coaches of the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Fidelis Ilechukwu and Daniel Ogunmodede will join Super Eagles caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state capital, as the national team prepares for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda this month.

Note that the Super Eagles will take on the Benin Republic at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, at 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 7. Three days later, the Nigerian team will be in Rwanda to play against the said country at the Amahoro Stadium, Kigali at 2 p.m.

Augustine Eguavoen, who had to come in to lead the Super Eagles for the fourth time in his coaching career, became the readily available option after German tactician Bruno Labbadia decided not to take the coaching job due to tax issues.

The NFF technical director will bank on the experience of Fidelis Ilechukwu and Daniel Ogunmodede in the two games. Recall that the two coaches battled for the NPFL title last season. After a fierce league title tussle, Ilechukwu’s Rangers came out first and Remo Stars finished second.
