‘Super Eagles Coaching Job: NFF Set To Negotiate With Herve Renard, Tom Sanfeit’

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is reportedly set to engage in discussions with Herve Renard and Tom Sanfeit regarding the vacant position of the head coach for the Super Eagles.

Note that the Super Eagles of Nigeria have been without a head coach since June 2024 after coach Finidi George resigned from the role barely two months after his appointment.

George left the position after failing to record a win against South Africa (draw) and against Benin Republic (defeat) in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June.

However, reports claimed George’s resignation wasn’t because he failed to win the two games but because the NFF planned to appoint a foreign technical adviser to work with him without his consent.

After his resignation, the NFF advertised for the technical adviser role and there have been a series of speculations concerning the recruitment process without anything concrete.

The football federation is condemned to name a coach for the Super Eagles this month before the national team will commence their 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

According to OgaNla Media, the NFF has initiated talks with both Herve Renard and Tom Sanfeit to discuss their financial terms and potential terms of employment.

Herve Renard is a renowned figure in the world of football, having previously served as the head coach of the France women’s national team.

Renard has an impressive track record, having led Zambia to victory in the Africa Cup of Nations in 2012 and Ivory Coast to the same title in 2015. Additionally, he also coached Morocco at the 2018 World Cup.

On the other hand, Tom Sanfeit is known for his successful tenure with the Gambian national team from 2018 to 2024. His achievements led to him being recognized as one of the top five best coaches in Africa in 2022 and 2023.
