Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has responded positively to his omission from the final nominees for the 2024 CAF Goalkeeper of the Year award, announced by CAF on Thursday.
The shortlisted candidates for the 2024 CAF Goalkeeper of the Year award include Ronwen Williams, Yahya Fofana, and Andre Onana.
While Stanley Nwabali’s exclusion was unexpected given his impressive performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where he kept four clean sheets, he remains focused and determined.
In his reaction to the omission, the Chippa United goalkeeper simply wrote: “We move!!!”
In another development, Enyimba’s technical adviser, Olanrewaju Yemi, has acknowledged the challenges the team has faced recently.
The People’s Elephants are currently winless in their last seven matches in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and have struggled to find their footing in the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
“Results are what ultimately matters,” he shared on X. “While we have dominated many games this season and created numerous chances, we’ve found it difficult to convert them into wins.
“As the leader, I take full responsibility for our current situation, but I’m confident that we will find our rhythm and start achieving positive results soon.”
Enyimba is set to face Mozambican side, Black Bulls, in their upcoming CAF Confederation Cup match on Sunday.
