Super Eagles Of Nigeria Drop One Spot In Latest FIFA World Rankings [See Top 20]

2 months ago 6

It is now a matter of how bad things can get for the Super Eagles of Nigeria on the FIFA world rankings as they continue their downward movement.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria, who were once ranked the 5th best team in the world, are currently the shadow of their former selves due to their inability to win games against lowly-rated teams.

Recall that in June, the Super Eagles recorded a draw against South Africa in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, and suffered an unexpected 2-1 defeat at the hands of lowly rated Benin Republic a few days later in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The two unexpected results have greatly limited their chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and have also affected their movement on the FIFA World rankings.

Recall that last month, FIFA claimed that the Super Eagles are ranked 38th in the world. But the latest rankings released today, July 18, showed that the side who are currently without a head coach have moved down to the 39th spot.

However, they are still the 5th best-ranked team in Africa, behind first-placed Morocco who are ranked 14th in the world.

Senegal are second in Africa and 19th in the world, Egypt are third on the continent and 36th in the world, while Ivory Coast are 4th in Africa and 38th globally.

Below are the top 20 ranked teams in the world according to the latest FIFA World Rankings released today, July 18:
