A suspect Fatiyah Abdulkhareem, arrested as the alleged killer of a former permanent secretary in the Ministry of Works, Niger State Architect Adamu Jagaba, has died .
It was learnt that the police had kept him in custody to investigate his alleged involvement when he died.
Fatiyah who was 18 years, was arrested about two weeks ago with the car of the late former permanent secretary and has been in police detention facilities.
Police claimed that while in custody, he confessed to have committed the crime for which he was arrested for, and was set to be arraigned when he died.
The Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun when contacted confirmed the death of the suspect in their custody due to ill-health.
He said, “The suspect, Fatiyah Abdulhakeem, complained of severe stomach pains and cough. He was taken to general hospital Minna for medical attention, but unfortunately, he later died while receiving treatment”.
“The corpse was deposited at the hospital morgue while awaiting postmortem results for further action”, he added.
