UK-based Nigerian reality star Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has criticized the conduct of some Nigerian Christian clerics, saying many of them wouldn’t get away with their actions if they were abroad.

Her remarks come in response to the controversy surrounding a viral video of House on the Rock Senior Pastor, Paul Adefarasin, confronting a car spotter while holding a pistol-like object. The clip sparked widespread debate online, with Adefarasin later clarifying that the object was not a firearm and claiming the spotter had been aggressive.

However, Tacha, in a video shared on her X (formerly Twitter) handle, dismissed the pastor’s explanation, accusing him of gaslighting the public.

“Everybody saw the video,” she said. “From the video, we can tell who the aggressor was. This pastor stopped his car, wound down, held an object that looked like a firearm and told this boy, ‘Don’t do that.’ From what I remember, the boy was even hailing him.”

Tacha questioned the narrative that the content creator was aggressive, arguing that car spotting is common globally and the young man’s actions didn’t warrant the reaction he received.

She also took aim at the church congregation, whom she described as “gullible” for applauding the pastor during a subsequent church service.

“Nothing pain me pass the gullible congregation that was clapping and cheering,” she said. “Didn’t you watch the video or you have selective blindness?”

The former Big Brother Naija star went further to criticize what she described as double standards in how Nigerian society treats religious leaders compared to politicians or celebrities.

“Let me make this very clear, 90 per cent of our Nigerian pastors will not get away with what they do in Nigeria outside Nigeria,” she said. “If they try the kind of Christianity they practice here elsewhere, their churches will close down in a year.”

Tacha also referenced past allegations involving Adefarasin, including a reported incident in which he allegedly smashed a bus windshield, putting passengers at risk.
