The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has said that negotiations to resume cargo flights between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia were currently ongoing.

He explained that while progress was being made, no final dates had been set for the implementation of those reforms.

“Negotiations are still ongoing, and the final dates have not been reached yet,” Keyamo stated during an exclusive interview on the status of discussions.

The Special Adviser on Media to the minister, Tunde Moshood, stated that there was the complexity involved in the process, particularly concerning international relations.

“Soon, we are working on it. It will start soon. Anything that deals with international relations is about diplomacy and protocol,” he explained.

Recall that in May, Keyamo revealed at the 3rd ministerial update in Abuja plans to resume cargo flights between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia.

He highlighted the achievements of the aviation sector, noting that the goal would be realised through a partnership with the Central Bank of Nigeria.

He noted that the decision was finalised during a recent visit to Saudi Arabia, where he held discussions with his Saudi counterpart.

“I have good news for you from Saudi Arabia. I met my counterpart in Saudi Arabia, and we have agreed to resume cargo flights,” Keyamo said.
