TCN restores power to substantial parts of Northern Nigeria

The Transmission Company of Nigeria said it has restored power supply to substantial areas in Northern Nigeria after fixing its 330-kilovolt Ugwuaji-Makurdi-Jos transmission line 2.

Ndidi Mbah, the spokesperson of TCN, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.

This comes weeks after TCN restored power supply to Bauchi and Gombe States around 4:56 pm on Wednesday after the 330 kV Ugwuaji-Apir transmission line 1 was fixed.

In a fresh update, TCN said it has also fixed and energised the Ugwuaji-Makurdi – Jos 330kV transmission line 2 around 11:50 am Thursday.

“Expectedly, Jos, Kaduna, Kano, and Yola Distribution Companies can now pick up more loads for onward distribution to customers within their franchise areas.

“The restoration of bulk power through line 2 means that both lines are now in the circuit. Therefore, there will be substantial improvement in power supply to the North East and North West.

“We appreciate the patience and understanding of electricity customers in the Northern axis who were affected by the incident,” the company said.

This comes amid incessant national grid collapses and cases of vandalization of TCN facilities in the last months.
