Terrorists have invaded Matusgi village in Talata Mafara Local Government Area, Zamfara State, kidnapping at least 10 residents.

Residents of the community said the terrorists attacked the village in the early hours of 2:00 am on Friday. They added that the attackers did not kill any of the community residents.

Heavily armed with sophisticated weapons and firing sporadically, residents said every member of the community scampered for safety in the bush.

They (terrorists) did not kill anyone during the attack. They only shot to scare us. They took about 30, including a woman and one sick man. We are yet to know their whereabouts. Everybody is scared,” a resident told Sahara Reporters.

Zamfara State Police Command has confirmed the attack on Matsugi village. The State Police Command Spokesman, Yezid Abubakar, said the attack happened around 2:30 am Friday morning.

While residents of the community said 30 persons were kidnapped by the bandits, Abubakar said 10 residents were kidnapped. He confirmed there was no resident killed by the bandits.

He said a team had been sent against the bandits to ensure rescue of all the abducted residents unharmed.

The attack is true. The bandits invaded the village on Friday morning, around 2:30 am. They kidnapped 10 people and the police are already making tremendous efforts to rescue all of them unharmed,” Abubakar said.
