‘They Are Licking Up Peter Obi’ – Kenneth Okonkwo

Nollywood actor cum politician, Kenneth Okonkwo, has stated that he is unlike the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, because they approach things differently.

Naija News reports that Okonkwo, in an interview with Arise News, claimed that Peter Obi is accommodating and wants to appear sweet to everyone, whereas he (Kenneth) does not share that inclination.

He said, “Peter Obi and I approach things differently, just like he said, and our temperaments are different. Peter Obi is a very sweet man, and he loves to appear sweet to everybody. I have always told my younger ones that do not be too bitter so that they will not spill you out and do not be too sweet so that they will not lick you up. While Peter Obi wants to be sweet to everyone, that is why they are licking him up.”

The movie star also said there is a need for the Obidients movement to be integrated into the Labour Party to build a strong party, but Peter Obi is indifferent about it.

According to Okonkwo, alliances with other political parties who share similar objectives with LP are the only way the party can win elections in 2027.

He added, “I would have loved the obidients to be integrated into the Labour Party in order to be solidified but Peter Obi does not believe in that and said Obidients are not members of LP. But in 2027, you are going to face an incumbent and you need a broad base powerful political party so that even when you win, you will be able to sustain your votes.

“Take instance what APC did in merging with other political parties like ANPP, ACN, half faction of APGA and CPC in order to defeat the PDP. They had to come together sacrificially to form a powerful alliance in order to overthrow an incumbent because in Nigeria, these people will rig elections, so it is not just about winning but you have to secure your votes. So my view is that you have to build a strong political party”
