Management of Tinapa Resort, Calabar, Cross River State, has announced plans as part of its broader mission to transform into a major leisure and industrial zone in Africa while contributing to Nigeria’s economic development.

The management team disclosed this on Tuesday when they paid a courtesy visit to the Managing Director of the Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority, Dr Olufemi Ogunyemi, in Abuja.

This high-level engagement was aimed at clearing the final regulatory hurdle with NEPZA, following significant concessions achieved in recent months to foster Tinapa’s growth.

Tinapa’s General Manager, Dr. Francis Ekom, said that the restructuring of the international resort centre will unlock greater value and enhance competitiveness on the global scale.

Ekom underscored Tinapa’s importance to the people and government of Cross River State and its economic impact on the nation.

He lauded the governor of the state, Senator Bassey Edet Otu for the excellent achievements recorded by his administration, which has holistically repositioned the state to attract investments and industrialization.

He said, “I thank His Excellency, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, whose efforts to resolve the AMCON issue have set Tinapa on a renewed path of growth and opportunity.

“I want to express sincere gratitude to the head of Cross River State National Assembly Caucus, Hon. Mike Etaba, who has pledged to advocate for Tinapa. In that same spirit, I thank Dr Ogunyemi for his support and commitment to Cross River State’s economic future and I am hopeful Tinapa will be fully revitalized.”

NEPZA Managing Director, Ogunyemi, said they are prepared to extend the authority’s cooperation to ensure that the desire of the administration to revamp the Tinapa Free Trade Zone and Resort is realized.

He commended the management of Tinapa for taking steps towards the overall promotion and preservation of the resort.
