President Bola Tinubu has condoled Vice-President Kashim Shettima and his family over the death of his mother-in-law, Hajiya Maryam Abubakar Albishir.

Albishir, 69, passed away “in Kano on Sunday evening after a prolonged illness,” according to a statement signed by the VP’s spokesperson, Mr. Stanley Nkwocha, on Monday morning.

Tinubu’s condolence was contained in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, on Monday.

“The President not only mourns the deceased but also celebrates her legacies of philanthropy and good virtues. While praying for the repose of the soul of the late Hajiya Maryam, President Tinubu urges the family to take solace in the remarkable life the departed matriarch lived,” Tinubu said in the statement.

Similarly, ex-President Muhammadu Buhari also expressed his condolences to Shettima and his family over their loss.

In a statement released by Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the ex-president, Buhari conveyed his deepest sympathy to Shettima, encouraging him to remain steadfast during this difficult time.

“As condolences pour in from leaders across the country for Vice President Kashim Shettima after the demise of his mother-in-law, Maryam Abubakar Albishir, the former President, Muhammadu Buhari seized the moment of their meeting on Monday in Katsina to express his deepest sympathies.”

Muhammadu Buhari said, “The death of Hajiya Maryam, the mother of the Vice President’s wife, Hajiya Nana, was extremely sad, adding that his thoughts and prayers were with the Vice President and his family at this challenging time.”

“He prayed to Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest,” he said.
