President Bola Tinubu on Friday afternoon departed Malabo, the capital of Equatorial Guinea, after a successful three-day official visit.

The visit, which was at the invitation of President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, aimed to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties between Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea.

Upon his arrival in Malabo on Wednesday, President Tinubu immediately engaged in a series of diplomatic activities, including the signing of the Gulf of Guinea Pipeline Agreement.

This significant deal is expected to bolster energy cooperation between the two nations, enhancing the region’s energy security and economic integration.

Additionally, the visit saw the resuscitation of the Nigeria-Equatorial Guinea Joint National Commission, which will facilitate further bilateral initiatives.

Many of these initiatives are scheduled to be activated in November, signaling a new era of collaboration between the two West African countries.

President Tinubu’s departure from Malabo International Airport occurred at approximately 4:03 pm on Friday.

He was escorted by Equatorial Guinea’s Prime Minister, Manuela Roka Botey, marking the end of a productive and historic visit.

The visit marks Tinubu’s first official trip to the Central African country and his 22nd foreign destination since taking office 15 months ago.

Among those who accompanied the President on this trip are the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, and other members of his cabinet, who participated in the signing of agreements and explore opportunities to enhance bilateral relations between the two nations.
