President Bola Tinubu has condoled with Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State over the passing of his Commissioner for Finance, Ahmed Ali Ahmed.
In a condolence message by presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, the Nigerian leader also consoled the family of the late commissioner, describing his passing as a huge and painful loss.
The President prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased and comfort to his family at this difficult time.
Confirming Ahmed’s death yesterday via a statement in Maiduguri, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Prof Usman Tar, said: “The burial of the diseased is slated for 5:00 pm today (yesterday) at his Damboa Road residence.”
According to family sources, the deceased was found dead in his bedroom in the early hours of yesterday.
Other sources told The Guardian that Ahmed was hale and hearty, while he greeted a few government officials on Sunday evening.
“His wife was said to be outside the state when the husband died in his sleep,” said a source, adding that the body of the deceased was found on his bed in the early hours of yesterday.
Sworn in on August 10, 2024, Ahmed was before then the State Zonal Manager of Zenith Bank in Maiduguri.
Governor Zulum has since, his second term inauguration in May 2023, lost two commissioners and a special adviser.
