President Bola Tinubu has released a heartfelt tribute to Alhaji Surajudeen Tokunbo Ayilara, a former Lagos State official and longtime associate who recently passed away.
In his statement, President Tinubu highlighted Ayilara’s dedication to public service and his significant contributions to Lagos State and Nigerian politics.
Ayilara, who served as director of the Abuja Liaison Office and later as a permanent secretary in Lagos State, was praised for his exceptional leadership skills and commitment to duty.
Tinubu recounted how Ayilara completed the previously abandoned Lagos Liaison Office in Abuja within six months, demonstrating his efficiency and determination.
The president emphasised Ayilara’s role in his political journey, noting his involvement in forming the Action Congress and Action Congress of Nigeria parties.
Ayilara was also a key figure in Tinubu’s presidential campaign, managing campaign accounts and liaising with influential political figures.
Tinubu described Ayilara as more than just a staff member or Special Adviser, calling him a “trusted associate, friend, brother, and dependable partner.”
He expressed deep gratitude for Ayilara’s unwavering support throughout his political career and his services to Lagos State.
Tinubu also highlighted Ayilara’s personal qualities, including his selflessness, loyalty, and humanitarian spirit.
He extended condolences to Ayilara’s family, as well as to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the people of Lagos State.
The president concluded his tribute by praying for Alhaji Ayilara to be granted Aljanna Firdaus, reflecting the deceased’s Muslim faith.
