President Bola Tinubu has approved the reappointment of Surv. Adamu Adaji as the Director General of the National Boundary Commission (NBC) for a second term.

This decision was conveyed through a letter signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, and was subsequently shared with the media by Efe Ovuakporie, the Head of the Information and Public Relations Unit.

President Tinubu indicated that the approval for a second and final four-year term aligns with the stipulations outlined in Section 16 (1) and (3)(a) of the National Boundary Commission (Establishment) Act, 2006.

“This appointment is effective from 7th August 2024, and your emoluments and other conditions of service shall be as provided under the Certain Political, Public and Judicial Office Holders (Salaries and Allowances, etc.) (Amendment) Act, 2008,” the letter read in part.

Adaji possesses a Master of Science degree in Land Surveying from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, as well as a Master of Public Administration from the University of Maiduguri.

He commenced his career at the National Boundary Commission (NBC) in 1992 as an Assistant Chief Surveyor, following his tenure as a Lecturer at ABU, Zaria.

Adaji advanced to the role of Director within the Commission and was appointed as the substantive Director General for his initial term on August 8, 2020.

The President anticipates that his reappointment will enhance the Agency’s operational capabilities and foster a peaceful boundary management system across Nigeria’s 86 interstate boundary communities and international borders.
