Tinubu’s address compounded Nigeria’s woes – Analyst, Ahiakwo

A lawyer and public analyst, Justice Osai Ahiakwo has said that President Bola Tinubu’s address in response to ongoing nationwide Hunger Protest has only compounded the nation’s many problems.

In a statement on monday, Justice Ahiakwo said the president’s failure to address other pressing issues plaguing the nation as the protesters demanded has only succeeded in throwing the people into a more confused state.

According to the lawyer, the President had made the whole situation nightmarish, leaving the people hopeless, as the hope he promised to renew has been diminished.

Ahiakwo said in as much as solutions were not profered in the president’s speech and there was no precision as to the time duration in solving the problems, he had not assured Nigerians of efforts to ameliorate their hunger and high cost of living.

“The speech of Mr. President only succeeded in creating lacuna for bad governance to dominate the political atmosphere.

“In any case, it would have been disappointing for the president to say otherwise, having promised Nigerians before the presidential election that he would continue from where the former president Buhari stopped.

“We recall that his predecessor, former president Muhamudu Buhari, informed Nigerians that his plans to remove the fuel subsidy were near completion, but he will leave it to the incoming government of president Bola Tinubu to implement.”
