Special assistant to President Bola Tinubu on youth initiatives, Ms Titilope Gbadamosi, has appealed to youths to shun the proposed nationwide protest in the interest of Nigerians.

Speaking at a town hall meeting organised by the Oyo State Agency for Youths Development held at the House of Chiefs, Secretariat, Ibadan, she stressed that President Tinubu feels the pains of Nigerians.

Gbadamosii urged youths to be patient with the current administration, stressing the need for people to shelve the protest and open a responsible communication channel with government through ministry of youths and other youth agencies for a better Nigeria.

Also speaking, the speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Mr. Adebo Ogundoyin, warned against any form of violence as calls for nationwide protests gather momentum to prevent a repeat of the devastating EndSARS protests that rocked the nation in 2020.

Ogundoyin also appealed to protesters to conduct themselves peacefully and avoid any actions that could lead to violence, urging security agencies to identify potential hotspots and secure protesters.

Commissioner for Youth and Sports Wasilat Adegoke, who said the government was not stopping the protest, enjoined youths to make the protest a peaceful one.

The chairman of the Oyo State Youth Agency for Youth Development, Prince Falana Adebowale, said the forum was put together to discuss the peaceful protest and identify those coordinating it.

Other youth groups, in their remarks, advocated for a price control mechanism, a reduction in the cost of governance, block leakages, and youths’ involvement in agriculture, amongst other things, to reduce the hardship experienced by Nigerians.
