Tinubu seeks Senate approval for new PSC, CCB appointees

The Senate, on Thursday, received  President Bola Tinubu’s letter, requesting the confirmation of four nominees as members of  the Police Service Commission.

The nominees are a retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, Buba Ringim; retired Supreme Court Justice, Adamu Galumje; Christine Dabup and Abdulfatah Muhammed.

Tinubu, in the letter read by the Senate President,  Godswill Akpabio, during plenary, said, “In accordance with the provisions of Section 154(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, (as amended), I am pleased to present for confirmation by the Senate, the appointments of the under-listed four nominees as members of the Police Service Commission.

“While it is my hope that the Senate will consider and confirm the nominees in the usual expeditious manner, please accept, distinguished Senate President, the assurances of my highest consideration and personal regards.”

In another letter of request, Tinubu sought for confirmation of the appointments of three nominees as members of the Governing Board of the Code of Conduct Bureau.

The nominees are Fatai Ibikunle, Kennedy Ikpeme, and Justice Ibrahim Buba.

The letter read: “In accordance with the provision of Sections 154(1) and paragraph 1(a) and (b) of part 1 to the Third Schedule of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), I am pleased to present, for confirmation by the Senate, the appointments of under-listed three nominees as members of the Code of Conduct Bureau.

“While it is my hope that the Senate will consider and confirm the nominees in the usual expeditious manner please accept, Distinguished Senate President, the assurances of my best regard.”
