Tinubu Will Gain Nothing From Introducing Polices That Will Not Benefit Nigeria – Oshiomhole

A former governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, has urged Nigerians to be patient with the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), Inflation figures reached 34.19 per cent in June 2024.

This is an indication of the high cost of living majorly triggered by the floating of the naira and the removal of fuel subsidy.

However, Oshiomhole, who represents Edo North in the Senate, has expressed confidence that Tinubu’s policies would yield positive results in the long run.

The lawmaker stated this during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.

According to him, “You have to agree that some of the policy initiatives will require more than a year to materialise.

“What would the president gain by resorting to policy choices that are unlikely to deliver comfort in the long run?”

“So, I think for me, it is about having faith that in the long run, these things will work out.”

Oshiomhole Reacts To Shaibu’s Return To APC

Meanwhile, Oshiomhole, has described the reinstated Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu’s return to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the ‘nature of politics’.

Naija News reported that the embattled Deputy Governor dumped the main opposition party at a campaign rally held on Saturday in the state.

Shaibu, at the rally, declared his official return to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He was received into the party by the APC’s governorship candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo and his running mate, Dennis Idahosa.

Shaibu also used the defection rally to reunite with his political godfather and a former APC National Chairman, Oshiomhole.

Recall that the duo fell out after Governor Godwin Obaseki and Shaibu’s second term win, which led them to quit the APC for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Despite returning to the APC after falling out with Obaseki, Oshiomhole, who spoke on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, said Shaibu’s action is common in politics.
