The Trade Modernisation Project has donated a customised 250KVA generator and a bus to the Nigeria Customs Service.

A statement from the organisation noted that the Chairman of TMP, Saleh Ahmadu, presented the equipment to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, recently in Abuja.

Adeniyi, while receiving the equipment, appreciated TMP for the donation of the equipment.

“On behalf of all officers and men, I appreciate this gesture that TMP has done for us through the presentation of the 250KVA generator and the 13-seater 2024 Toyota Hiace bus,” Adeniyi said.

He disclosed that the service was aware of TMP’s efforts in providing the tools and equipment needed to drive the modernisation programme.

“We know that computers alone would not work by themselves, they will not affect the desired modernisation that we need,” he noted.

According to Adeniyi, computers would require human input, stressing that the working environment of these elements is as important as those tools.

“So, we, therefore, appreciate these efforts you put in place to help us enhance the working environment and also improve the welfare of these officers,” the CGC added.

The customs boss applauded the TMP for being a worthy and dependable partner in their modernisation drive.

He noted that the equipment delivered would be put to good use to bring added value to NCS operations.

Also, Adeniyi encouraged the officers, undergoing special training organised by the TMP in preparation for the management duties of the service, to be attentive and acquire the necessary knowledge to discharge their responsibilities and take up the tasks ahead of them professionally.

Meanwhile, the chairman of TMP said the bus was for the effective movement of personnel between the headquarters and the TMP office.

He added that the generator was donated to ensure constant power supply to the management quarters of the NCS.
