Tottenham Hotspur Enter Race For Victor Osimhen’s Signature

Tottenham Hotspur have entered the race to secure the signature of Super Eagles of Nigeria and Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly eager to fill the void that was left when Harry Kane exited the club for Bayern Munich last summer, and Victor Osimhen is seen as a perfect fit for that.

According to Football Insider, Spurs coach Ange Postecoglou is keen on adding a new striker to the squad during this summer transfer window, and he is ready to work with the 25-year-old Nigerian international.

Osimhen, who made a record €77.5 million move to Napoli in 2020, has been a standout performer in Serie A, particularly in the 2022-2023 season. However, it’s understood that the striker is open to leaving Napoli, which has attracted the interest of Premier League clubs.

Chelsea have been actively pursuing negotiations with Napoli, with discussions reportedly revolving around a potential cash-plus-player deal involving Romelu Lukaku. In response to Chelsea’s pursuit, Tottenham are contemplating including their players in a bid to secure Osimhen’s coveted signature.

The financial aspect presents a significant hurdle, as Napoli has inserted a hefty €130m release clause in Osimhen’s contract. It remains to be seen whether Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will be willing to make such a substantial financial commitment.

Osimhen’s potential arrival at Tottenham would not only address the club’s pressing need for a prolific goal scorer but could also symbolize the dawn of a new era at the club.

The striker’s preference for a move to the Premier League over other lucrative offers, notably from the Saudi Pro League, has given English clubs an edge in the race for his signature.

As the transfer saga unfolds, both Tottenham and Chelsea are expected to intensify their efforts to secure the services of one of Europe’s most sought-after strikers, who has also attracted the interest of French Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint Germain.

Recall that PSG and Victor Osimhen had agreed on personal terms but the demands of Napoli stalled the transfer process. However, there are reports that the French side are yet to give up on the deal.
