Tragedy as DPO slumps, dies in his office in popular south west state

Ijanikin, Lagos state - Tragedy struck at the Ijanikin Police Station in Lagos state after the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) CSP Bolaji Olugbenga, slumped and died in his office.

CSP Olugbenga died before he could be rushed to a hospital on Thursday night, October 17.

As reported by Daily Trust, a policeman who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the DPO’s corpse had been moved to a mortuary.

He added that the tragic incident has thrown police officers attached to the station into mourning.

The state police spokesperson, Benjoam Hundeyin, has yet to issue an official statement regarding the sudden death of the DPO as of the time of filing this report.

INEC REC slumps, dies after Abuja meeting

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Ogun state Niyi Ijalaye, reportedly slumped and died shortly after the meeting of the commission in Abuja on Monday evening, August 20.

Iyalaye died at his hotel in the federal capital territory (FCT) Abuja, where he had lodged to attend the INEC meeting ahead of the off-cycle election in Edo and Ondo.

Professor Mahmood Yakubu, the chairman of INEC, was said to have presided over the meeting ahead of the forthcoming off-cycle election at the commission's headquarters in Abuja.
