Croatian midfield legend Luka Modric is on the verge of completing a sensational move to Serie A giants AC Milan, marking the end of an illustrious era at Real Madrid.
According to renowned transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Modric is expected to sign his contract with AC Milan on Wednesday, with final details set to be wrapped up within the next 24 hours. The deal will see the 38-year-old join the Rossoneri on a free transfer ahead of the 2024/2025 season.

The move comes after Modric’s final LaLiga appearance for Real Madrid last month against Real Sociedad. Despite the club’s efforts, the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner was unable to agree on a contract extension with the Spanish giants.
Modric leaves Real Madrid as one of the most decorated players in the club’s history, having won six UEFA Champions League titles, three LaLiga titles, and numerous domestic and international honours since joining from Tottenham Hotspur in 2012.
While many expected the veteran midfielder to retire at Madrid or after the 2026 FIFA World Cup—set to begin later this month—his move to Milan signals a desire to continue playing at the highest level.
AC Milan, who are rebuilding under new leadership and aiming to challenge for the Scudetto next season, believe Modric’s experience and playmaking prowess will be crucial to their midfield.
The transfer marks a new chapter for Modric after over a decade at the Santiago Bernabéu and comes as part of a broader reshuffle in European football ahead of the summer window.
