Transfer: Man Utd eyes Chelsea’s Chalobah

Manchester United have made an enquiry about Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah, as the 25-year-old may likely to move away from Stamford Bridge this summer.

The news comes amid reports that Chalobah is “disappointed” to have been left out of Chelsea’s pre-season trip to the USA.

Journalist Ben Jacobs who revealed to GIVEMESPORT in a post on Monday said, “Trevoh Chalobah is contracted to Chelsea until 2028, so he can be quite picky with his next club. He is naturally disappointed to have been excluded from Chelsea’s pre-season tour of America, but won’t exit unless the club is right.”

Chalobah, a product of Chelsea’s youth academy, has made 58 Premier League appearances since his debut in 2021. However, new Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca does not view the defender’s retention as a priority, with the centre-back position deemed overcrowded following recent arrivals and pending returns from injury.

While no concrete offers have been received for Chalobah yet, Chelsea are reportedly hoping for a fee of around £25 million, potentially holding out for closer to £30 million.

Jacobs added, “Multiple Premier League clubs have enquired, including Manchester United, but Chelsea don’t have any offers yet.”

The Red Devils are looking to bolster their defensive options following the departures of Raphael Varane and Willy Kwambala.

Chalobah, who can play at both centre-back and right-back, could prove to be a more cost-effective and versatile option for United compared to other targets like Matthijs de Ligt and Jarrad Branthwaite.

Described as a “monster” by Football Talent Scout Jacek Kulig, Chalobah currently earns £50,000 per week at Chelsea. Despite his popularity among Chelsea fans, it appears new manager Maresca has different plans for the squad’s composition.

In related news, Manchester United are also reportedly in talks with Bayern Munich right-back Noussair Mazraoui’s agent, as they continue to explore defensive reinforcements.
