Trucks Transit Parks (TTP) Limited has announced a plan to collaborate with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) to set up a command and control centre in Marina, Lagos, to enhance the visibility of truck traffic around ports and terminals.
The Managing Director of TTP, Jama Onwubuariri, said this during a courtesy visit by NPA’s Managing Director, Dr Abubakar Dantsoho, to assess TTP’s operational office at the Lilypond Container Terminal in Ijora, Lagos.
Onwubuariri emphasised TTP’s unwavering commitment to innovation and excellence in port management, noting the company’s readiness to extend its truck traffic management solutions to other ports across Nigeria and West Africa.
Highlighting the continuous improvements made to the Ètò call-up system, Onwubuariri demonstrated the company’s dedication to advancing port management technology.
He also announced that TTP’s Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) system and e-tags are ready for implementation, pending official approval from the NPA with the Lagos Port Complex already equipped with RFID and e-tag scanners, which have successfully undergone testing.
“We are excited about the potential of our e-tag/RFID technology to streamline operations and set new standards for efficiency and sustainability in the industry. Our shared goal is to create a more efficient, secure, and sustainable port ecosystem for all stakeholders. We look forward to continued partnership with the NPA to drive forward the integration efforts with the port community and ensure our ports are globally competitive,” Onwubuariri said.
During the visit, NPA’s Managing Director, Dr Abubakar Dantsoho, highlighted the importance of the collaboration between NPA and TTP in enhancing port operations.
He praised the company’s innovative solutions and role in improving logistical efficiency and contributing to a more sustainable port ecosystem.
Dantsoho also emphasised the need for continued innovation and the adoption of advanced technologies, advocating for a shift towards renewable energy to reduce carbon footprints, protect the environment, and ensure the long-term sustainability of port operations.
“For long-term projects, TTP should consider renewable energy to cut emissions and carbon footprint,” Dantsoho stated.
He said the partnership between TTP and NPA represents a significant step towards modernising Nigeria’s port operations and ensuring they remain globally competitive, efficient, and environmentally sustainable.
