Two Chinese Nationals Kidnapped In Ogun

Two Chinese nationals, named Chen Wenguang and Liang Ding, have been reportedly kidnapped in the Kémta/Abule-Owu region along Onigbedu Road in Ogun State.

Reports obtained by Naija News on Monday revealed that the abduction occurred at approximately 1:45 PM on Sunday when the individuals departed from their workplace to meet friends.

A police source, who requested anonymity as he was not permitted to comment officially, told The PUNCH that Wenguang and Ding were associated with the Good One Carton Company located in the vicinity.

“Wenguang and Ding left the company on their own, without notifying security, including the police and military assigned to the company, nor did they inform the company itself.

“They mentioned to a few people that they were heading to Kémta Village, about a kilometre away from the company, to visit some friends,” the individual reportedly noted.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the state command, Omolola Odutola, told newsmen on Monday that the kidnappers had contacted the company to demand a ransom for their release.

She said, “The company’s security supervisor reported that one of the expatriates called to inform him that Wenguang and Ding had been kidnapped and that the kidnappers were demanding money in exchange for their release.

“Our operatives in the Ewekoro Division, with the assistance of local vigilantes, military personnel from the Social Orientation and Safety Corps, local hunters, and other security groups, thoroughly searched the entire Kémta Village forest for the duo but were unable to find them.”

She indicated that attempts to facilitate the release of the two individuals were still in progress.

It could be recalled that the kidnapping of three Indian nationals along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway was reported in early May 2024.

The victims were subsequently freed after enduring three days in captivity at the hands of their captors, Naija News understands.
