At least two individuals were killed, and others were reportedly kidnapped in separate attacks believed to be orchestrated by Boko Haram militants in Borno State.
Naija News understands that the kidnapping incident happened along the Maiduguri/Gamboru Ngala Road last Saturday.
Earlier, reports emerged that the insurgents specifically targeted military checkpoints on the highway and set fire to commercial vehicles valued at hundreds of millions of naira in the same area.
These assaults have resulted in considerable financial losses for traders and owners of commercial vehicles, as the insurgents routinely steal goods from vehicles travelling this route.
Daily Post quoted a commercial driver, Ali Abubakar, to have highlighted how the worsening condition of the road has intensified the threat, facilitating ambushes by the insurgents.
He recounted an incident from last Thursday on the Mafa to Dikwa Road, where two individuals were killed and their vehicles were torched after being looted.
A member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in Mafa also confirmed that seven individuals, including the driver of a Desert Land Rover, were taken by insurgents on Friday between Ajiri and Dikwa.
He noted that their current location is unknown, but efforts are underway to secure their release.
However, the state command of the Nigeria Police Force has yet to confirm the recent attacks as attempts to contact the State Police Public Relations Officer, Nahum Kenneth Daso, proved abortive according to the media platform.
