U.S. Embassy In Nigeria Shifts To New Visa Service Provider

1 month ago 6

The United States Embassy in Nigeria has announced that, as of August 26, 2024, its consular operations in Abuja and Lagos will be managed by a new visa services provider.

This change was officially announced on the U.S. Embassy’s website and its verified social media channels.

According to the statement, Nigerian applicants who have already scheduled their visa appointments will no longer have access to the U.S. travel website starting August 16. However, the embassy assures that appropriate measures are being taken to accommodate both current and future applicants as it transitions to the new service provider.

For Nigerian applicants with interview dates on or before August 16, 2024, the embassy advises that no additional steps are necessary. Applicants can continue to log into their accounts at ustraveldocs.com to review appointment details and contact customer service as needed.

Applicants with interviews scheduled between August 16 and August 26, 2024, also do not need to take further action but are informed that they will lose access to their ustraveldocs.com accounts after August 16, 2024. This means they will be unable to cancel or reschedule appointments and will not have access to customer service during this period.

These applicants are advised to print their appointment confirmation letters before August 16, 2024, and, if possible, attend their scheduled interviews. If unable to attend, they should check back on or after August 26, 2024, for instructions on how to reschedule.

For those whose interviews are set for August 26, 2024, or later, no further action is required, but access to the ustraveldocs.com account will still be lost after August 16, 2024. Starting August 26, 2024, applicants should check the U.S.

Embassy’s new visa services website for instructions on creating a new user account, which will be necessary for managing appointments and accessing customer service. It is recommended to print the appointment confirmation letter before August 16, 2024, to avoid issues when setting up the new account.

For applicants who have paid the visa application fee but have not yet scheduled an interview, the embassy strongly encourages scheduling an appointment as soon as possible, taking into consideration the guidance provided based on their interview dates.

For those who have not paid the visa application fee but plan to travel to the U.S. in August 2024, it is advised to pay the fee and schedule the appointment promptly. Applicants planning to travel after August 26, 2024, may want to wait until after this date to start the nonimmigrant visa process.
