Real Sociedad striker Umar Sadiq has expressed frustration regarding his limited playing time at the Spanish La Liga club.
Recall that Umar Sadiq made a promising start by scoring a goal on his debut after joining Real Sociedad from Almeria in the summer of 2022.
Unfortunately, Sadiq’s time at the club took a drastic turn when he sustained a serious cruciate ligament injury during his second appearance, which sidelined him for the entirety of the 2022-2023 season.
The 27-year-old forward returned to competitive football at the beginning of the last season. Despite this comeback, his contributions were modest; he managed to net three goals and provide one assist across 26 league appearances, most of which came as a substitute.
This limited playing time has continued to be a persistent issue for Sadiq, and he has made just six league appearances this season.
In reaction, Umar Sadiq expressed his dissatisfaction with his current position on the team. In an interview with Eldesmarque, the Nigeria international emphasized his desire for more consistent playing opportunities.
He said, “I just need continuity, and that does not depend on me. I’m training well; I’m more than a professional now, and that other part doesn’t depend on me.”
He added, “The only thing I can do is keep pushing and keep training hard, and when I have continuity, it will be time to prove it.”
