Unity Bank Plc has reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment by hosting a webinar focused on equipping Nigerian youths with digital skills, aiming to bridge the digital divide in the tech-driven economy.

The webinar featured technology experts, including the Senior Vice President of Growth, Product, and Strategy at Wakanow, Gbolahan Salami, and the Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Crop2Cash, Micheal Ogundare who shared insights on how youths in the country could leverage digital technology for growth and development.

Commenting on the initiative, Unity Bank’s Head of Strategy and Innovation, Ibukun Coker, emphasised the bank’s commitment to supporting MSMEs and youth-led businesses through youth-friendly products, special business grants, and financing packages.

“Empowering the youth with digital skills is crucial to achieving sustainable development in Nigeria. Unity Bank remains dedicated to bridging the digital divide and equipping young people with the necessary skills to thrive in today’s fast-paced economy,” said Coker.

He added that the bank’s commitment to youth empowerment extended beyond the webinar, adding that the bank recently partnered with Skillpaddy to train over 1,000 young women in software engineering under the “Count Her In” tech programme, with 40 participants receiving full sponsorship.
