The United States government has unveiled a new website for visa applicants and American citizens located in Nigeria.

The US Embassy announced on its website that the website is intended to facilitate online account creation, visa application fee payment, and appointment scheduling.

The website also offers information services for both U.S. visa applicants and American citizens in Nigeria.

It added that a new online chat application has been introduced to provide quick responses to enquiries, with operational hours and contact methods available on the website’s “Contact Us” page.

“Information services for U.S. visa applicants and American citizens are also available now to support you. Need a quick response to a tricky question? Set-up your account and try our online chat application! Please see the Contact Us page for operational hours and methods,” US Embassy said.

The embassy also noted that the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Consular Affairs website and Consular Post are the official sources of visa information and can be found here: https://ng.usembassy.gov/.

It added that individuals who had previously scheduled appointments on the old website were notified that their appointments would remain on the original date they chose.

US stated that an automatic email notification will be sent to the registered email address within the next two business days, providing instructions on setting up a new account.

“If you had an appointment scheduled on the previous website, your appointment remains on the original date you selected. You will receive an automatic communication within the next two business days to the email address you registered on the previous website. You do not need to contact us; your instructions to set-up your account will be sent directly to your registered email address.”
