JD Vance and Tim Walz, the vice-presidential candidates for the upcoming United State presidential election, have officially agreed to participate in a debate on October 1.

The event, to be hosted by CBS in New York, is set to be a crucial moment in the race, offering voters a direct opportunity to compare the candidates’ visions for the future.

CBS expressed its anticipation for the event, stating, “We look forward to… providing voters with an opportunity to hear directly from the vice-presidential candidates.”

Tim Walz, running mate to Vice President Kamala Harris and Democratic presidential nominee, confirmed his participation via a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, stating, “See you on October 1, JD.”

For his part, JD Vance, who is the running mate of former President Donald Trump of the Republican Party, also confirmed his agreement to the debate on Thursday. In addition, Vance issued a challenge to Walz for a separate debate on CNN scheduled for September 18.

Meanwhile, the first direct debate between the presidential candidates, Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, is slated for September 10. According to ABC News, “Vice President Harris and former President Trump have both confirmed they will attend the debate,” marking a significant moment in the election cycle. This debate follows the Harris campaign’s earlier decision to skip a proposed Fox News debate on September 4.
