Operatives of the Ojodu Division under the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a veterinary doctor, identified as David Tom, for allegedly committing burglary and stealing properties valued at N24 million.
The spokesperson for the state police command, CSP Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the arrest on Saturday, said the doctor was nabbed after carrying out the theft on December 29, 2024, from a residence located in River View Estate, Isheri Olofin.
Odutola said, “A security guard at River View Estate, Isheri Olofin, reported that on December 29, 2024, at approximately 9:30 am, he was informed by the estate chairman, Abayomi Akindele, that unidentified burglars had broken into the residence of Captain Anyanwu Emmanuel.
“The homeowner later suspected a man identified as Tom David, his veterinary assistant, to whom he had entrusted the gate key. This arrangement was made to allow David to care for the security dogs left in the compound while the owner travelled to the village.
“However, on December 28, 2024, the suspect informed the homeowner that upon arriving at the compound around 9:45 a.m., he discovered that the house had been burgled by unknown persons. This prompted the homeowner to return on December 30, 2024. It was later revealed that approximately N24,961,200 worth of property had been stolen.”
During the investigation, Odutola disclosed that the suspect was tracked down and taken into custody for interrogation.
She added that the suspect would be charged in court following the completion of the preliminary investigation.
