Super Eagles of Nigeria striker, Victor Osimhen has shared his excitement after agreeing to join Galatasaray on loan from Italian Serie A club, Napoli.

Victor Osimhen revealed that he had a conversation with his former Napoli teammate, Dries Mertens, before deciding to join the Turkish side.

Osimhen’s arrival in Istanbul was met with a warm reception at the airport, and he seemed to be in high spirits as he interacted with fans.

The 25-year-old Nigerian international who almost joined Chelsea and Al-Ahli this summer, expressed his enthusiasm about reuniting with Mertens and joining Galatasaray.

“The atmosphere is incredible. It’s great to be here and to see Mertens again. I spoke to him before coming here,” Victor Osimhen said, according to the Italian publication Corriere dello Sport.

Meanwhile, there are speculations that Osimhen might potentially move to Arsenal in January if the club decides to activate the break clause in his Galatasaray contract.

This clause reportedly can be triggered by only 10 clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich.

Note that Osimhen’s release clause which was worth €130 million, has now been reduced to €75 million. The 25-year-old striker’s contract with Napoli still stands and will officially expire on June 30, 2026, except if a club buys him in January or next summer.
