Open Defecation: Lagos Continues Cleanup, Sets Up Taskforce To Arrest Offenders

The Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources continued cleanup of the Ojodu-Berger highway median on Thursday as part of its effort to end open defecation.

The state Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this in a post on X.com on Thursday.

According to Wahab, the state government has set up a taskforce to arrest offenders for roadside defecation while warning the public against the act.

He wrote, “The Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources today continued the total cleanup of Ojodu-Berger median, warns against defecating on the roadside, as the Lagos State Government set up a taskforce to arrest offenders.”

PUNCH had earlier reported that the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency and the Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency started cleanup on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on August 13 in order to end open defecation along that highway median.

LASEPA had also said the agencies’ focus was the median from the OPIC Plaza to the Odetola Bridge inward Lagos end of the newly rehabilitated road.
