We Are Not Reselling Crude Oil – Dangote Group

Dangote Group has said report that its subsidiary Dangote Refinery has been reselling its crude was false.

Naija News reported that sources told Bloomberg that Dangote Refinery was reselling its crude oil because its Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) has technical issues.

According to the report, sources said that “cargoes of Nigerian Escravos and Forcados crude, along with U.S. WTI Midland crude, were among the grades being offered for sale by Dangote’s Refinery.”

However, Dangote Group Chief Branding and Communication Officer, Anthony Chiejina, in a statement on Saturday, said Dangote Refinery has no authority to resell purchased crude oil from Nigeria.

The statement added that the refinery’s Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) has been operational and functioning optimally.

Chiejine said the report was driven by interests opposed to local refining of fuels. Dangote Group spokesman advised the public to disregard the report, stating it was a false narrative.

Our attention has been drawn to a misleading report suggesting that our refinery’s crude distillation unit (CDU) is experiencing issues and that we are reselling crude oil.

“We categorically deny these claims. The Dangote refinery is not authorized to sell crude oil purchased from Nigeria, and our CDU is fully operational and functioning optimally.

“We advise the public to disregard these false narratives, which are likely driven by interests opposed to local refining of fuels,” the statement read.
