We Will Collaborate To Strengthen Our Justice System – Reps To Afam Osigwe

The House of Representatives has pledged to work with the president-elect of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Afam Osigwe, in strengthening the country’s justice system.

In a statement signed by the Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Akin Rotimi, the Green Chamber said the 25 years of experience Afam Osigwe has, including that as chairman of NBA, Abuja branch, would be instrumental in piloting his new responsibility.

House of Reps added that Afam possesses vigilance, responsiveness and constructive engagement traits which are critically needed in the nation.

With 25 years of distinguished service in the legal profession, including leadership roles as Chairman of the NBA Abuja Branch and General Secretary of the national body, Mr. Afam Osigwe brings invaluable experience that will greatly benefit the legal community in Nigeria.

“His commitment to upholding the dignity of the association and integrity of the legal profession is commendable.

“The NBA President-Elect’s pledge to lead an inclusive administration & contribute meaningfully to the advancement of Nigerian society resonates deeply with the House.

“We also appreciate his emphasis on vigilance, responsiveness, responsibility, constructive engagement, and forward-thinking, all of which are critical priorities for our nation at this time.

In accordance with Agenda 3: Law Reform of the 10th Assembly’s Legislative Agenda, under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, the House eagerly anticipates collaborating with the incoming NBA administration to reform and strengthen our judicial and legal systems,” the statement said

Meanwhile, The Chairmen, House Committee on Judiciary and House Committee on Justice, Mamudu Abdullahi and Olumide Osoba, respectively, have said Osigwe’s experience would help in advancing justice delivery in the nation.

Mamudu Abdullahi, said, “The NBA is a crucial partner in our shared goal of ensuring swift justice delivery and enhancing the autonomy of the Judiciary, in line with our legislative agenda.”

On his part, Olumide Osoba said, “Osigwe’s extensive experience and avowed commitment to upholding legal integrity will be pivotal in advancing our legal landscape.”
