Cross River State Commissioner for Commerce, Dr Abigail Duke, has pledged to do everything within her reach to ensure that Gov Bassey Otu’s administration transforms the state to economic powerhouse of Nigeria.
Duke made the assertion while answering questions from journalists a day after flagging off 2024 Cross River State Trade Fair at the U J Esuene Stadium in Calabar.
The çommissioner stressed that the present administration was poised to create an enabling environment where private enterprises would thrive.
“Cross River Government is committed to fostering an enabling environment for trade, industry and investment”. Abigail maintained.
The çommissioner averred that it is critical for the state to position itself as a business and economic hub that will attract investment to the state to empower local enterprises.
Abigail said, “It is a renewed opportunity to foster partnership, highlight local businesses, and drive sustainable economic growth across the state.”
Speaking on the theme, “In Support Of Our Shared Prosperity”, Duke stated that the fair is in alignment with the state’s commitment to economic progress, local industry growth and support for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the state where the trade is organised.
The çommissioner stressed that the state has embarked on numerous initiatives to strengthen its infrastructure, reduce bureaucratic obstacles, and create policies that will encourage industrial growth, which will turn the state’s fortunes around.
