‘When A Prizefighter Loses A Fight’ – Trump Replies Kamala Harris On Call For Another Debate

1 week ago 4

Former United States (US) president and Republican nominee, Donald Trump, has announced that he will not further debate with Democratic candidate – Vice President Kamala Harris before the election on November 5.

Naija News understands there had been speculations that Trump flopped in the ABC News presidential debate on Tuesday night against Harris.

Trump and Harris had contrasting views regarding the possibility of future debates.

Trump advocated for a meeting hosted by NBC News on September 25, while Harris’ campaign expressed a desire for another debate in October immediately after the Tuesday event.

Fox News had also proposed to host a debate in October.

However, Trump unequivocally stated on Thursday that he would not participate in another debate with Harris.

The former President asserted that he emerged victorious from Tuesday’s debate despite initial polls indicating that Harris performed better. He likened Harris’ request for a rematch to that of a defeated boxer.

He further remarked that Harris would be better occupied addressing the numerous challenges facing the nation.

“When a prizefighter loses a fight, the first words out of his mouth are, ‘I WANT A REMATCH.’ Polls clearly show that I won the Debate against Comrade Kamala Harris, the Democrats’ Radical Left Candidate, on Tuesday night, and she immediately called for a Second Debate,” Trump wrote in the Truth Social post.

“Kamala should focus on what she should have done during the almost four-year period. There will be no third debate,” the Republican added.

Subsequently, in a post barely an hour after Trump’s, Harris renewed her call for another debate.

“Two nights ago, Donald Trump and I had our first debate.

“We owe it to the voters to have another debate,” Harris wrote.

What Polls Say About Donald Trump Vs Kamala Harris Tuesday Debate

According to an average of three national polls aggregated by 538, the polling division of ABC News, 57% of participants indicated that Harris emerged victorious in the debate, while 34% believed Trump was the winner.

Naija News understands that this data included a survey conducted by Republican sponsors.

Following the debate, Trump and his conservative allies contended that the moderators from ABC News, David Muir and Linsey Davis, exhibited bias in favour of Harris during the post-debate discussions on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

Trump and others expressed dissatisfaction, claiming that the moderators fact-checked Trump on various inaccuracies, including unfounded assertions regarding infanticide and allegations of migrants consuming pets in Ohio, while failing to apply the same scrutiny to Harris.

Another debate is scheduled, featuring vice presidential candidates U.S. Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio, a Republican, and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, a Democrat, set to take place on October 1 in New York City.

In June, Trump faced President Joe Biden when Biden was the anticipated Democratic nominee.

The president’s lacklustre performance in that debate led to his withdrawal from the race shortly thereafter, paving the way for Harris’s entry.
