Why Chelsea Could Still Sign Victor Osimhen Or Ivan Toney This Summer

There is a big chance that Premier League club, Chelsea can still get one of Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen or Brentford striker, Ivan Toney, this summer.

Saudi Pro League club Al Ahli have been giving Chelsea a very tough time in their attempt to sign Super Eagles of Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen.

Recall that Osimhen, who is set to leave Napoli this summer despite having two years left on his current contract with the Italian Serie A side, had said his dream is to play for a Premier League club.

Interestingly, that dream is being challenged by a mouthwatering offer from Al Ahli, which could see him become one of the best-paid footballers in the world.

While the Saudi Pro League club have decided to pay him between 25 and 30 million euros every season for four years, Chelsea, who are the only European side left in the race for his signature, are reportedly willing to pay him around €350,000 per week.

Hence, Al Ahli are seen as the favourite to sign the 25-year-old Nigerian striker due to their mouthwatering offer.

On the other hand, the Saudi side has also agreed to sign Ivan Toney, who was an alternative target for Chelsea.

But Sky Sports claimed that a source at the Saudi club revealed that Al Ahli can’t sign the two strikers at the same time due to a rule in the Pro League and financial implications.

Also, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the report by sharing on his X page: “Understand Al Ahli will ONLY sign ONE between Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney. This is the current plan.

“Chelsea is still working in the background for Victor Osimhen in case he doesn’t give the final green light to Al Ahli.”

Based on this, Chelsea are still in the race to sign Victor Osimhen, and if they can’t get him, they are likely to get his backup, Ivan Toney.
