Why I Sacked All My Cabinet Members – Gov Sule

1 day ago 3

The Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, has said his decision to sack all members of his cabinet was in line with his administration’s desire to deliver good governance to the citizens of the state.

Governor Sule said all his cabinet members delivered on their mandate in line with his government’s Economic Strategy One for the state.

Naija News reported that Sule sacked all his cabinet members last Friday. He also appointed 45 permanent secretaries to breach administrative gaps.

In an interview with Arise News on Monday, the Governor explained that he was looking for new team that would help his government achieve the state’s Economic Strategy Two.

He, however, disclosed that some members of the defunct cabinets would be called back to join the new team he would appoint.

“It is a strategic decision to strengthen the team, to drive development, to focus on areas of competitiveness. The Secretary to State Government has been serving for close to 5 years and is actually the longest-serving Secretary to State Government in the history of Nasarawa State.

“On the other colleagues of mine, that is the commissioners you have mentioned. They are commissioners that we have actually worked together during the election and we worked very hard. Some of them were commissioners before the second part of our administration started.

“When you mentioned about dissatisfaction, in fact, we were so satisfied that we didn’t know how to remove some of them and leave some of them.  So we decided that it was better to disolve the entire council. Definitely, there are so many of them that we are also going to reappoint in order to strengthen the team to be forced.

“And one of the major reasons really is because we started with what we call the Nasarasa State Economic Strategy one. So now we have developed the Nasarasa Economic Strategy Two. And we focused on areas of competitive advantage, you know, security, agriculture, mining, education, health, rural and urban development. So we are trying to bring teams that understand these to work with the team we have on ground and strengthen our team in order to drive development,” he said.

Governor Sule assured that he would not take time to appoint a new cabinet. He added that the permanent secretaries, head of service and directors have been running the offices efficiently.

It is going to be very soon. We do not intend to stay too long actually without a sitting cabinet. However, one of the advantages Nisarawa State has, I don’t know about other states, is the fact that we have a very, very strong team of permanent secretaries, from the head of service all the way to the permanent secretaries who are holding, as well as the directors who are supporting them.

“Just today (Monday), I had the meeting with the permanent secretaries and everything is going well as if the commissioners are still there. So today (Monday),  we had a joint meeting of the permanent secretaries and the local government chairman and then we had interactions to ensure that nothing slows down during the short break. It is going to be a very short break before we appoint another team that will work with us,” he added.
