UEFA has initiated an investigation into a newly surfaced video that appears to show suspended Premier League referee David Coote using a white powder during his involvement at Euro 2024.
This new video emerged shortly after David Coote was suspended by the PGMOL on Monday due to a separate video that allegedly showed him making negative comments about Liverpool and former manager Jurgen Klopp.
The footage in question was reportedly recorded on July 6, the day after the Euro 2024 quarter-finals, where Coote served as the assistant VAR.
The governing body of European football is currently examining potential violations of its disciplinary regulations, following David Coote’s suspension earlier this week.
A statement from UEFA reads, “A UEFA ethics and disciplinary inspector has been appointed to assess the potential violation of the UEFA disciplinary regulations by referee Mr. David Coote. Further updates on this matter will be provided in due course.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has expressed his admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic ‘siu’ celebration.
In a recent interview shared by The CR7 Timeline on X, Salah was asked about his favourite goal celebration and responded, “Cristiano, Siu, I like it a lot”.
Both Salah and Ronaldo have had remarkable scoring records, with Salah achieving a substantial number of goals since joining Liverpool in 2017.
Ronaldo, now 39, holds the title of football’s all-time goalscorer with over 900 goals for both club and country, having netted 10 goals and provided three assists in 15 games this season.
Salah has emerged as one of Europe’s most clinical finishers, recording 221 goals and 99 assists in 366 appearances for Liverpool, including an impressive 10 goals and 10 assists in 17 matches this season.
