Why we rallied support for Benjamin Kalu, friends initiative , BOT chairman discloses

A non- partisan organization under the aegis of Friends Initiative for Benjamin Kalu has disclosed that its support to the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives was not politically motivated , rather, to relate a platform where individuals from diverse backgrounds came together as o make meaningful impact in their respective communities.

National Board of Trustees Chairman of the organization, Captain Paul Adamu Nwachukwu who disclosed in his speech presented during the inauguration of Abia State Chapter of the organization in Umuahia, said the organization is diverse coalition of young professionals representing various vacations, beliefs and political affiliations characterized by peaceful co existanc, unity, honesty and shared prosperity.

The the national BOT chairman was represented by Engr . Okezie Sam.Egbe who also presented his address said that the organization was not only expanding it’s geographical footprint, but also to reaffirm thier commitment to the principles and value that underpin the organization.

According to him, as committed members that represents a wide array of political backgrounds, the collective gaol is to foster significant social change within the political landscape of the State.

In his speech, the national cordinator of the group, Hon. Emmanuel Onwuchekwa , revealed how Benjamin Kalu in 2003 made a strong wave into the State politics from the diaspora, “He got so much love from the youths and many that ignited a heavy protest to the government house when the “cabal” in government denied him the ticket to his chosen dream position, House of Representatives.

” The leadership skills and development strides of the Deputy Speaker have brought together these calibre of men and women from all work of life, there could he no other reason he was given an uncommon reception with an investiture by the State government, being the first to receive such honour from an opposition party in the State”.

He charged the newly inaugurated executive officers and State chapter of the organization to e of food ambassadors of the Deputy Speaker in thier respective localities, ” Let your conduct speak for this organization and our principal “.

In his brief remarks, the former House of Representatives for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Hon Stanley Ohajuruka lauded the Deputy Speaker for using his position for the interest of the South East political zone through attracting projects and appointments.

Ohajuruka who also was the former Speaker of the State House of Assembly drummed support from people of the zone especially on the Peace initiative in the South East being championed by the deputy speaker , Rt. Hon Benjamin Kalu.

In his response, the Deputy Speaker, represented by his Chief of Staff,Hon . Tobi Okechukwu said the association made mistake in rallying round the Deputy Speaker as his good and quality representations are evidently being witnessed by his constituents, the State and the South East political zone.

Speaking after the inauguration of the State executive members,the State coordinator,Hon. OkorieOkechukwu Henry promised to work harmoniously in order to achieve the aim of the organization while reinstated the support of members to the peace initiative of the Deputy Speaker

Fielding questions from journalists, the chairman of the Planning committee for the event, Pastor Okechukwu Dike debunked the growing speculations that the platform was in preparation ahead of speculated governorship aspiration of the Deputy Speaker in 2027.
