Chairman of Bakassi local government area in Cross River State, Effiong Etim-Okon, has given reasons why the Cross River State governor, Bassey Otu, and Nigeria ‘s president, Bola Tinubu, should be allowed to lead for a second term in 2027.
He said that allowing them for the second term would give them the opportunity to build on existing achievements and further drive development in the state and nation.
The council chairman made the remarks while answering questions from LEADERSHIP yesterday in Bakassi.
He assured that Bakassi votes will be significant and intact for Gov. Otu and president Bola Tinubu, boasting that there was no vacancy for anyone other than the duo.
Giving justification for the Second term bid for president Bola Tinubu and Governor Otu, Etim-Okon stated that the second term would bring added value to constituents, highlighting the benefits of continuity in leadership.
He noted that the second term would allow officeholders to build on existing achievements and further drive development in the state and nation.
He supported President Bola Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu’s potential second-term bids, citing their good governance records.
Apparently reflecting on the poor voting showing in the 2023 presidential election, the council chairman stressed the need to address cross-cutting edges as the local government marches towards 2027.
“Second term within a political tenure brings more added values for constituents within defined political delineation and office holders.”
The critical stakeholders moved the endorsement motion earlier at the endorsement ceremony for Otu and Tinubu. A former senator who represented Cross River Southern senatorial district at the National Assembly, Florence Ita Giwa, and others expressed satisfaction over the leadership style and governance under President Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu.
