Wike: APC Has Hand In Crisis Rocking PDP – BoT Member, Aminu Wali Asserts

A member of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Aminu Wali, has asserted that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has a hand in the intensifying internal strife within the opposition party.

Naija News reports that Wali made this remark during a recent discussion with the BBC.

The founding member of the PDP asserted that the APC is purposefully inciting discord among opposition parties to undermine the stability of the nation’s political environment.

The veteran politician highlighted the recent conflicts within the PDP, illustrating the challenges faced by the executive committee in achieving reconciliation before ultimately resolving the issues.

He implied that although the APC may not overtly acknowledge its role, it is intentionally exacerbating unrest to diminish the cohesion of the opposition.

“You can be sure that the APC has a hand in the disputes occurring within some political parties in Nigeria,” he asserted.

Wike’s Action Before, During And After Election

Wali further underscored the involvement of former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike in the current turmoil facing the party.

He asserted that the incumbent Minister of the Federal Capital Territory’s conduct prior to and during the 2023 general elections suggests a stronger affiliation with the APC, claiming that Wike persistently undermines the party while still being a member.

As a senior figure within the PDP, Wali stressed that although they can provide counsel, the responsibility for disciplining wayward members rests with the party’s executive committee.

He voiced his concern regarding the lack of decisive action from the PDP’s leadership to resolve these matters.

“If the party had followed its principles, many of the crises we are facing today might have been avoided,” Wali remarked.

Wali observed that, despite attempts to address the problems through multiple committees, these efforts have proven to be unproductive, as certain committees have not commenced their activities and essential members have declined to collaborate.

He advocated for a significant party convention aimed at reorganizing the leadership and implementing discipline, emphasizing that such measures could aid in reinstating order within the PDP.

Reacting, however, to Wali’s assertions, Ahmed Aruwa, the APC publicity secretary in Kano, said: “The APC has nothing to do with the PDP.”

Aruwa suggested that Wali’s accusations might be a result of old age and a misunderstanding of the current political dynamics.

Aruwa also accused the PDP of deflecting blame for its internal problems, claiming, “They are looking for faults here and there instead of focusing on rebuilding their party.”

Aruwa further addressed the role of Wike, defending the FCT Minister’s inclusion in the APC-led government. He noted that Wike was invited to contribute to national development, citing his reputation as a “Mr. Project.”
